The data pages have now printer friendly styling.
Thanks to Nicole Garland for bringing that issue up.

However not all browsers are capable of printing the flash chart.
Here's some results of testing different browsers:

IE 8 - OK (be sure to restrict printing to 1 page as the second one is redundant)
IE 7 - OK
Google Chrome (4.1 on Windows, 5.0 on Linux) - OK
SRWare Iron 4.0 on Linux - OK
Safari 4.0 on Windows - Failed
Opera (10.54 on Windows, 10.10 on Linux) - Failed
Firefox (3.5.3 on Windows, 3.6.3 on Linux) - Failed

Fan pages of the new format should be fixed now but if the change is not global - others might break...
Also just about to deal with the new Cause page format...

Greetings,

Thanks for your note. We do know about the issues with the Netvibes widget, although they have proved difficult to peg down, and we don't have a solid timeframe on a fix.

Specifically, we know that in some cases:

A) The widgets do not work on iGoogle
B) The widgets are rejecting the authorization code
C) The widgets do not work behind some firewalls

Cases when the widgets do work:

A) Relatively unrestricted firewalls
B) Apple Dashboard
C) Netvibes platform

We'll continue to look into the issue and post any updated information here. Thanks again for your error report,

Hi, Jim.
I'm terribly sorry for the delay but I've had some mishaps lately with my Windows system and (still) switching to linux the last week and haven't checked my rss reader for a while.
Generally for such troubles you should have used the contact form. It's more probable that your request will reach someone and get response withing couple of hours (with the solution).

So the problem with your urls is that at some point got redirected to
http://www.instantimprints.com/blog/feed/
and the new url must be entered into the tracker (automatic redirection off currently for testing purposes).
You could have fixed that with the [update] link (I've done that for you already).

<channel> :: <item> elements must have <pubDate> sub-element."

> That's outdated from when the feeder didn't support the atom format. I'll remove that as soon as I have the chance.

For more informatin about how Blog Feeds can be used effectively, see:

> That's just a beta stage wishlist feature :) yet.

Hi, andy.

For a url to work it must:
1. Not redirect when you enter it in the browser (see what error codes you get entering it in the tracker)
2. Be a fan page and not a personal profile page

If you still have problems with any urls send them along

Since even 1-3 are anyway combinations of retweets and stats already collected from another tracker I was thinking of adding formula (or even custom) stat entries.
Those will show in the stats dropdown but will not need a separate entry in the db, instead will be calculated from other stats in some way. Thus any number of additional stats can be added to a tracker showing various tendencies.
But perhaps all those should better be left for the still to be developed chart sheet pages...

Those sound tremendous: #'s 1-3 are key; it's the combinations that I shy from. There are quite a few sites that develop some kind of hybrid number that ends up being somewhat meaningless; the clean distillations (#1-3) are far more powerful.

and it would also be useful to see if all the RTs are coming from the same few individuals or whether the "reach" is increasing over time

Great tip! *

I suppose eventually (when the scheme be somewhat clarified) the retweets will be a separate tracker type showing something like:

Absolute count of own retweets

Percentage of retweets to one's updates

Percentage of retweeters to one's followers *

A mysterious combination formula between own retweets, the unique retweeters and the followers count to give some more organic clue of the outreach.

...

Will need a comprehensive discussion on this one though...

For what it's worth, I think the most useful stat regarding RTs is how many times an update that orginated with me has been repeated (retweeted) by others. It's a rough indicator of what followers are finding most interesting - but very rough indeed, as you've noticed.

The example "nsmcnahb: RT @builderonline @DeirdreReid: Great advice - 5 Tips to Revive a Fading Facebook Group (by @rjleaman) - http://bit.ly/PuKGI" is a good one to show the inherent difficulty with this metric. (Did I originally tweet that link to my post, and then it was picked up and paraphrased by others? Or did the tweet originate with @DeirdreReid? I can't even remember, but it could have been either way.)

I'm inclined to agree with Dave that "The more relevant number is how MANY retweets an individual person has; an increase in that number would be a great thing; and better, the number of individuals who are retweeting one's tweets -- yes?" It would still be only partly accurate, because of the nature of language and RTs, but volume of RTs would be a useful tracker and it would also be useful to see if all the RTs are coming from the same few individuals or whether the "reach" is increasing over time.

Hope that makes sense!

1. The retweet ranking on that site seems to be targeting (as is the definition of
retweet
the way I understand it) the particular user retweets rather than keywords so that one estimates his own success.

2. A problem with www.retweetrank.com itself I just spotted is it doesn't even accurately count actual retweets.
For eg.
"nsmcnahb: RT @builderonline @DeirdreReid: Great advice - 5 Tips to Revive a Fading Facebook Group (by @rjleaman) - http://bit.ly/PuKGI"

is not actually a retweet to @rjleaman but rather to @builderonline & @DeirdreReid

3. And yes as Dave noted while the retweet rank can show you your success compared to others it doesn't provide a clue as to what your own effectivity (and progress) is.

So I suggest:
The retweet rank on SQ to be calculates as

100 * tweeter updates / retweet rank

Thus value of 100 on the chars meaning 100 % of your updates have been retweeted once
A value of 1000 meaning averagely 10 followers have retweeted every your update.

Not sure if the actual follower count shouldn't be involved in the calculation though...
Perhaps it should be left for manual calculation through the excel feeds ?

Hey there,

Retweet ranking is, in the end, not as useful as we thought it might be. The basic idea (as far as I can glean) was to rank the most popular retweet keywords/pages, so one could get a sense for how much a brand was (or wasn't) retweeted in comparison to others.

The problem is, the raw number of tweeters is constantly changing - so the rank is constantly in flux, making the ranking far less important.

The more relevant number is how MANY retweets an individual person has; an increase in that number would be a great thing; and better, the number of individuals who are retweeting one's tweets -- yes?

Hi ;)
Sorry for the response delay but the forum is not yet configured to send alerts as necessary.

About retweet:
Your retweet rank for example is

http://www.retweetrank.com/rjleaman

(I'm not sure what it means though :)

In future there will be other and more useful twitter statistics fetched through its api.

Can you explain what goes into the Twitter Retweet Rank?
I get it that "lower is better" but can't seem to figure out how it's calculated just by looking at the stats - which would be helpful in deciding how to interpret changes in that measurement.

Hi all,

What are your methods for calculating ROI on social technology investments? Do you count friends? members? What have you tried, and what has worked / not worked?

Cheers, and hoping to hear more,

Hey all,

Thanks for taking the time to stop by SociafyQ!

By way of introduction, I'm Dave, one of the tech-people behind the technology. When I'm not tinkering with various educational and social-serving technologies, or building new ones, I work with a leading nonprofit in the education reform space, Citizen Schools, and a leading consulting firm in the social space, Weber Media Partners.

Outside of education and social technology, I'm a caver (formerly of the UT Grotto, and now of the Boston Grotto) and outdoor tinkerer (gardening, hiking and other stuff).

So, that's a bit about me - above all, very approachable should you have suggestions or improvements to the site, want to talk social strategy, or better still, about the newest, deepest cavern found (most recently, in Thailand).

Cheers,
